Photogrammetry

3D scanning technique used to model outplant cells and produce volumetric coral measurements.
Pipeline in development. Photogrammetry capture is operational in the field, but the processing pipeline that turns image sets into canonical metrics (mesh generation, volumetric extraction, aggregation into _statistics) is not yet shipped. Until it lands, dashboards use the cylindrical EVI proxy instead of photogrammetry-derived volume.

A 3D scanning technique used to model outplant cells. Field teams capture overlapping image sets of reef areas; these are processed into 3D mesh models from which coral volume, cover, and morphology can be derived.

Use in the Methodology

  • Conducted before outplant, at T0, and annually thereafter
  • Captures 10% of bommies/cells per outplant site
  • Source for canonical EVI (volume), coral cover, survival rate, health, and bleaching measurements at the outplant level
